COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Mission Goes on Offensive Tear in Sweep

Mission College went on a hitting spree Saturday, sweeping a Southern California Athletic Conference doubleheader from host Compton, 10-1, 15-8.
Erik Lazerus went four for nine in the two games, scoring five runs and driving in two for Mission (14-11, 8-6 in conference play).
Robert Ballester (5-1) threw five shutout innings for Mission in the first game, striking out three, walking none and holding Compton (2-15, 0-11) to one hit.
In the first game, Ernie Bueno went three for three and scored a run for Mission. Derek Ornales had four hits and drove in two runs.
In the second game, Gary Matthews tripled and homered.
Oxnard 8, Pierce 6--Robert Sanchez doubled twice and drove in three runs for host Oxnard (8-12, 4-5) and Andy Wilson added a two-run single in a Western State Conference game.
Ryan Glass (2-1) earned the victory in relief, allowing one run on four hits in five innings.
Cesar Martinez hit two doubles for Pierce.
Antelope Valley 17, Barstow 3--Antelope Valley continued to pile up the runs, scoring more than 10 runs for the ninth time this season.
Antelope Valley (10-8, 4-5) was paced by Jack Cox, who despite a sore finger had four hits, including a two-run home run in the fourth.
Jeff Bowne and Ryan Branch also added home runs for Antelope Valley. William Wallace pitched eight innings for his third win.
Northwest Nazarene 7, Cal Lutheran 6--Cal Lutheran scored six runs in the first two innings and was held scoreless thereafter in a nonconference game at Cal Lutheran.
John Becker and Joe Gordon homered for Cal Lutheran (14-4-1).
Moorpark 7, Valley 5--Britten Pond went three for four with two RBIs and Ryan Briggs added a two-run double for host Moorpark (10-8-1, 4-3) in a WSC game.
Sean Mitchell went two for four with a double and drove in a run to help Rob Lanouette (2-1, 1-0).
Santa Barbara 9, Canyons 4--Chris Pfatenhauer and R.J. Fenolio each had two RBIs for Canyons in a WSC loss at Cabrillo Park.
Canyons, (9-11, 5-7) suffered four conference losses this week.
Ventura 9, Bakersfield 5--Victor Moreno had two hits and three RBIs for host Ventura in a WSC game.
