Blast in French Reactor Kills 1; No Leaks Found

MARSEILLE, France — An explosion set a closed nuclear reactor on fire in southern France on Thursday, killing one man and injuring four people, but officials said no radiation contamination was detected.
The Atomic Energy Commission said the blast knocked down a giant, 3,200-square-foot slab of concrete, sparking a sodium fire in a tunnel some distance from the core of the experimental reactor, which was being dismantled. The cause of the blast was unknown.
