Andrea Wasden
SCHOOL: Rio Mesa
SPORT: Track and field
YEAR: Junior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Wasden is one of the Southland’s top hurdlers after running 14.98 seconds in the 100-meter highs last year. But she pulled up during last year’s Southern Section Division II finals after hitting hurdles, and followed that with a dismal 17.81 clocking in the National Scholastic outdoor championships. But working with a hypnotherapist has paid off. She leads the region in the 100 highs and is second in the 300 lows.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Wasden won the 100 (12.5), 100 highs (14.3) and 300 lows (46.8) in a Channel League meet Thursday before running personal bests of 14.40 in the 100 highs and 45.18 in the 300 lows Saturday in the Arcadia Invitational.
