Jean Daily Underwood, a longtime Camarillo civic leader, will be named Woman of the Year during the 15th annual Camarillo Women’s Day event Saturday, officials have announced.
Underwood will be honored during ceremonies at El Rio High School before the 8:45 a.m. start of more than 25 morning workshops, according to Laine Waggoner, an event spokeswoman.
This year’s theme will focus on stress reduction at work and at home.
Workshop topics include “Empower Yourself: Women’s Legal Rights” with Ventura County Deputy Dist. Atty. Colleen Toy White; “Single Parenting, Re-entry and Transition,” with Bonnie Warrington of Parents Without Partners; and “Women’s Fitness in the 90s,” with Richard Diaz of the Camarillo Athletic Club.
The event will feature a luncheon at the Spanish Hills Golf and Country Club, where Ventura County Supervisor Maggie Kildee will speak. A fashion show and a silent auction will follow.
Tickets are $35 for the whole day; $20 for just the workshops, and $25 for the luncheon and afternoon program. Ticket reservations will close at the end of today.
The event is being sponsored by the Oxnard College Reentry Center and other Ventura County women’s groups. For more information, call (805) 388-8821.
