Supporters of the Branch Davidians held a memorial for church members who died in last year’s fire and expressed anger at the events that led to the deadly finale of a 51-day standoff with federal agents. Emotions ran high and recriminations were aired over the government’s handling of the incident, which ended in the deaths of cult leader David Koresh and about 80 followers on April 19, 1993, when a blaze destroyed their compound outside Waco. The daylong memorial, held near the site of what had been the Branch Davidian complex, included exhibit tents and vendors of food, ice cream and T-shirts.
