‘Bad Girls’ Are Good

Re that Counterpunch on the movie “Bad Girls” (“ ‘Bad Girls’ Fires Off Bad Message,” May 23): Was the violence portrayed in the movie extreme? Hardly, when you compare this flick to that testosterone-packed film, “No Escape,” or to the previews of Brandon Lee’s last film, “The Crow.”
It’s not that I like violence in film; I don’t. It’s just that when you’ve spent your entire life watching women portrayed as prostitutes, victims and the hero’s lesser half, it’s refreshing to see film heroines who are capable of taking care of themselves.
