Record Stores Hold Food Drive for Needy

Starving for some new tunes?
Pop on down to a Moby Disk Records store with a can of food, and they might just have the cure for your auditory pangs.
“Feed the hungry while you feed your ears” is Moby Disks’ campaign to combat hunger, a two-week food drive ending June 19. The drive works like this: music-hungry customers bring in a canned food product, and in return they receive a $1 to $5 discount on any CD in the store. The chain has stores in Canoga Park and Sherman Oaks.
All canned goods collected will be donated to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, which will in turn distribute the food to charities that feed the needy throughout Los Angeles.
“The hungry are not as glorified as AIDS and earthquakes,” said marketing director Tracy Brophy.
