Woman’s Death, Shooting Probed

Los Angeles police on Sunday were investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in the debris of a burned Van Nuys house as well as a shooting that left one person dead and another wounded.
The body of the 77-year-old woman was discovered after firefighters put out a 4:11 p.m. fire in the 6400 block of Blewett Avenue, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said.
At 4:45 p.m., one person was killed and another wounded in a shooting near Van Nuys Boulevard and Riverside Drive in Van Nuys, Los Angeles police said.
