There’s something strange in the trailers being shown for Spike Lee’s upcoming film “Girl 6”: “Songs by Prince.”
That’s right. Prince. Not . Not the Artist Formerly Known as Prince. Just Prince.
It’s all songs written and recorded when he did still answer to that name, it turns out--though three of them, including the title track, have never been released before. Other tracks used in the romantic comedy, which deals with a young actress using her talents on a phone sex line, include “Erotic City,” “The Cross” and tracks written and produced by Prince for Vanity 6 and the Family.
