Re “The Big Deal” (Feb. 8): Let’s see. A producer gets an idea for a book-cum-movie or a movie-cum-book or perhaps a hybrid. The producer talks to an author who begins to write, conceptualizing scenes rather than chapters.

Sorry, but that’s not a novel. That’s a treatment.
