A 17-year-old Westlake High School senior has won this year’s Soroptimist International of the Conejo’s Youth Citizenship Award.
Todd Campbell is scheduled to receive the $350 cash award at 7 a.m. May 21 at a breakfast honoring him at the Plug Nickel Restaurant in Westlake Village.
The award recognizes outstanding contributions by young people who improve the community’s quality of life. Recipients are chosen on the basis of demonstrated service, dependability, leadership and sense of purpose.
Campbell has been involved in student activities, including the National Honor Society, the Mock Trials team and Campus Light, where he served as vice president.
He also donates time to Safe Rides, a hotline available for teens who are unable to drive because of intoxication; SERT, where he works with physically and mentally handicapped children through horseback riding; and TORCH, a local retirement home.
Soroptimist International of the Americas is a service organization for executive and professional women. For more information about Soroptimist of the Conejo, call Betsy Bourne at 347-8147.
