YOUNG AUTHORS

They may not be on a bestseller list, but give them 20 years and who knows what could happen.
Students from several private schools in Los Angeles will gather tomorrow at the Mirman School to share their latest works at a Young Authors’ Fair. The 8- to 12-year-old elementary school students will have five minutes to read from stories they have written.
The Authors’ Fair is not a competition, just a way for the students to be proud of what they have done, said Candace Corliss, one of the teachers coordinating the fair.
But some of the students already are distinguishing themselves as authors. Several of their stories will be published by the Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans, and one student has won a writing contest sponsored by a bookstore, Corliss said.
