U.S.-Israeli Accord
The counter-terrorism accord signed by President Clinton and Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres (May 1) is the ultimate in political hypocrisy and election-season pandering. The accompanying $100 million given to Israel seems to be a reward for its massacre of hundreds of Lebanese civilians, the destruction of $1 billion of Lebanon’s infrastructure and the dispossession of the whole population of south Lebanon. Crime really does pay!
This new blood-drenched form of U.S. political campaigning reeks of the smell of death and blood-stained money. It casts a shadow over everything that follows and is a cruel burden to lay on U.S. citizens who have to carry the Israel burden.
