Santa Margarita, Senior
Golf
Wagner has been a standout golfer for the Eagles since his freshman year, but last season he faltered in the postseason and failed to qualify for the Southern Section individual championship. This year, Wagner left no doubt he’s back, winning the Sea View League title by nine strokes after shooting two-under-par 71-71--142 at San Luis Rey Downs. Wagner, who set a school record this season by shooting six-under 66 at Rancho Santa Fe, had to scramble a bit for his first 71 last week. He only hit four fairways. “He was telling me, ‘Coach, trees don’t bother me anymore,’ ” Eagle Coach Tim O’Hara said.
