. . . First-term Assemblyman Gil Ferguson (R-Newport Beach) was considered a sure bet for reelection despite what political analysts called “an uncanny knack for inciting controversy.”
During his first Assembly floor speech, Ferguson earned the nickname “Rambo” after calling Democratic Assemblyman Tom Hayden a traitor.
