Kevin Gilbert; Grammy-Nominated Songwriter, Singer

Kevin Gilbert, 29, singer and songwriter who shared a Grammy nomination for Sheryl Crow’s “All I Wanna Do.” Gilbert began working with a San Jose-based band called Giraffe, where he attracted the attention of Madonna writer and producer Patrick Leonard. Together they created the hit album “Toy Matinee” featuring their first single, “Last Plane Out,” and eight other songs. Gilbert also had some success with his 1995 solo album “Thud.” He had been working on an album with his new band, Kaviar. On Jan. 18 in Pasadena where he was found dead in his bed of undisclosed causes.
