Jeffrey Cox Named to New Rockwell Post

Jeffrey Cox has been appointed to the newly created position of director, communications programs for Rockwell Semiconductor Systems in Newport Beach. He will oversee the Rockwell division’s employee communications, investor communications, marketing communications, public relations and trade-show programs. Cox was formerly director of corporate communications and marketing services at Solectron Corp., and before that, held a variety of market and sales development positions at Hewlett-Packard for 14 years.

* Bob Sinclair has been named vice president of international operations for Simple Technology Inc., a manufacturer of computer products. He had been international sales manager. In addition, Steve McCarthy was appointed vice president and general manager of Simple Technology Canada, and Walter Speirs joined the company as vice president and general manager of Simple Technology Europe. McCarthy had been general manager in the Canada subsidiary, and Speirs was previously with Motorola Inc.

* Robert Levin has joined Interstate Electronics Corp. in Anaheim as vice president of sales and marketing for commercial communications. He was formerly vice president of sales and marketing at California Microwave Inc.’s Satellite Transmission Systems division. Levin also co-founded and served as chief executive and president of Radyne Corp.

* James J. Dal Porto, executive vice president and chief operating officer of I-Flow Corp., an Irvine medical products company, has been elected to the board of directors. Also, Gayle L. Arnold, I-Flow’s vice president of finance and chief financial officer, has been named to the additional post of treasurer.

* Kathleen VanDerPol has been appointed vice president and branch manager of the new Huntington Plaza office of Liberty National Bank. Before joining Liberty, she managed a branch for Bank of America.

* David Howard has joined CB Commercial Real Estate Group Inc. as vice president, corporate accounts for the Madison Integrated Tenant Services group in the Newport Beach office. He was previously director of corporate services for Charles Dunn Co., and before that, director of real estate for Strategic Mortgages Services.

* Skip McDaniel has been appointed vice president and general manager of Medtronic Cardiopulmonary in Anaheim, a unit of Minneapolis-based Medtronic Inc. McDaniel has more than 20 years of experience managing operating units in the health-care business, including management positions with Baxter International.

* Norm Argast has been named president and chief executive of Novalog Inc., a recently formed, wholly owned subsidiary of Irvine Sensors Corp. in Costa Mesa. Argast was elected an officer of Irvine Sensors in 1994, and appointed senior vice president for business development. He joined the company after a 30-year career with IBM.

* Gene Ornstead has been appointed vice president, product management for CalComp, an Anaheim computer graphics peripherals company. He had been director of product management for plotters and printers since 1994. Ornstead joined CalComp in 1988 as a product marketing manager.

* Bill Hennigan has joined Wyle Electronics in Irvine as director of semiconductor product assets. He will be based in Phoenix. Hennigan was previously with Avnet E.M.G., and before that, held marketing positions at Intel and Motorola.

* John B. Dorsey has been named vice president, national sales for Hyundai Motor America in Fountain Valley. Dorsey, who joined Hyundai in 1993, had been general manager of the Western region office in Fountain Valley. Before that, he was director of sales at American Suzuki Motor Corp. Marvin P. Baisden has been appointed Western region general manager. For the past three years, he has been regional sales manager.

* Lynne C. Miller has been named vice president of claims for Insureco Inc. in Orange. Before joining the company, Miller was claims manager at Balboa Life & Casualty and litigation supervisor at Reliance Insurance Co.

* Dianne M. Pusch has been appointed director of the University of Phoenix’s Southern California campus in Costa Mesa, which includes adult higher education learning centers in Fountain Valley, Gardena, Lawndale, Diamond Bar, Van Nuys, Ontario and South Pasadena. Pusch was previously associate director.

* Rich Donohue has joined Ingram Micro Inc., a Santa Ana wholesale distributor of microcomputer products, as director and assistant treasurer of the company’s U.S. treasury organization. He will be responsible for directing U.S. cash management, forecasting and reporting functions. Donohue was most recently a member of the international trade finance team at Global Countertrade Corp. in Flemington, N.J. Before that, he spent 11 years with OKI America Inc. in Hackensack, N.J., where he held various positions, including director of treasury operations and divisional controller.

* Dan Shapero has been named vice president and general manager of the client/server division for State of the Art Inc., an Irvine accounting software developer. He succeeds Russell Olson, who is retiring. Shapero had been vice president of marketing. He previously held positions with Platinum Software Corp. and Ernst & Young.

* William O’Loughlin has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing for Dynamotion/ATI Corp., a Santa Ana manufacturer of drills and routers for electronic circuit boards. O’Loughlin had been North American sales manager for Excellon Automation for the past six years.

* Perry J. Viscounty has been selected to head the new statewide Intellectual Property and Technology practice group of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP. Viscounty, a partner in the Newport Beach office, is in charge of client development and attorney recruiting and training.

* James P. O’Shaughnessy has been appointed vice president and chief intellectual-property counsel at Rockwell International Corp. in Seal Beach. Before joining the company, he was a partner with the law firm of Foley & Lardner in Milwaukee.
