An administrator from a New Mexico middle school has been chosen as the new principal of Moorpark’s Peach Hill elementary school.
Carlos Pagan will begin his new duties in mid-August, taking over the spot vacated by Theresa McEwen.
Before accepting the Moorpark job, Pagan had been assistant principal of Bernalillo Middle School in Bernalillo, N.M. Frank DePasquale, assistant superintendent for the Moorpark school district, said Pagan has also worked as a language consultant for New Mexico’s state department of education and taught high school and elementary school in Washington state.
Those credentials pleased Moorpark’s school board members, who interviewed Pagan on Monday before voting to offer him the job. “We were impressed by his commitment to children and his background in bilingual education,” board member David Pollock said.
