Firm Completes Purchase of SensorMedics

YORBA LINDA — A Massachusetts manufacturer of monitoring instruments and biomed equipment has completed its acquisition of SensorMedics Corp. for a total of about $70 million.
Thermo Electron Corp. said the investment includes the issuance of about 1.2 million of its shares, options to buy additional 150,000 shares and the assumption of certain liabilities.
Yorba Linda-based SensorMedics provides systems for pulmonary function and sleep disorder diagnoses, as well as high-frequency ventilation for pediatric and neonatal use. The company reported sales of $62.9 million in 1995. Thermo Electron has annual sales of about $3 billion.
