For his musical enjoyment, Olympic swimmer and free spirit Gary Hall Jr. has been sticking closer to home--no trips to the former hotbed of alternative music, Athens, Ga. Hall journeyed to San Rafael to hear folk singer Dave Grisman--who once played with Jerry Garcia--got in late and promptly finished 41st the next morning in 54.61 seconds in the 100-meter freestyle last month.
“Well, I did see Ziggy Marley in the Olympic Village,” Hall said.
He enjoyed the concert. Hall doesn’t often rumble in the mosh pit, however, saying: “I’m not one of those spinning guys. But I get into the rhythm.”
