VEGGIE-MATIC: Paul and Linda McCartney’s longtime campaign for vegetarianism will be honored by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization, which will award the pair a lifetime achievement honor at a star-studded ball in December at Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
The event, which PETA holds every four years, will be held in L.A. for the first time and will have a real music theme, with fellow veggies Chrissie Hynde, k.d. lang and the B-52’s among those planning to attend and possibly perform. Hynde made headlines a few years ago by granting PETA permission to use her image after she’s dead with the slogan “I’d rather be dead than wear fur”--something that had been declined by the families of Kurt Cobain and River Phoenix after their deaths.
The McCartneys’ attendance is reportedly dependent on the progress of Linda’s recovery from breast cancer surgery earlier this year.
