A 14-year-old boy was treated at a local hospital Saturday night after possibly being grazed in the head by a bullet, authorities said.
At 10:22 p.m. Oxnard police responded to a report of a shooting victim in the 1200 block of West Birch Street. The victim, Juan Zavala, said he was walking in an alley off West Birch Street when he heard a gunshot in the distance. “He then felt a sharp pain in his head,” said Tom Chronister, a senior police officer.
The teenager went to a friend’s house nearby, where he was met by police, fire and paramedic personnel. He was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard and treated for moderate injuries, Chronister said.
Police have made no arrests in the case, and the investigation is continuing.
