NEW YORK — Elizabeth Taylor has promised to attend AmFAR’s big “Rock of Ages” benefit in Dallas on Monday. This is a 70th birthday bash for rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Chuck Berry.

And on Oct. 12, Taylor, Sharon Stone and other celebrities are set to step at the head of the AIDS Candlelight March in Washington, D.C.

Has that new super-short haircut energized Miz Liz? Seems so.

Good grief! In our item Thursday on the two upcoming Janis Joplin pics, we wrote that the Paramount script was being written by Julie Cypher, whom we referred to as “Joplin’s lover.”

Wrong! Cypher is a video director, and she is actually Melissa Etheridge’s lover (Etheridge is up for the Joplin role). Cypher was only 8 years old at the time of Janis’ death. Sorry!
