At the beginning of the season, fans in the Garden Grove League were pointing to Week 6 and the matchup between Pacifica and Rancho Alamitos as the deciding game for the league champion. But Los Amigos spoiled the party by defeating Pacifica a week earlier. Now, Friday’s game at Bolsa Grande High is The Big Game. Los Amigos and Rancho Alamitos, both undefeated in league, kick off at 7 p.m.
In the Sea View League, where nearly every team has a legitimate shot at the playoffs, next week’s marquee game starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Irvine High, where the Vaqueros host Newport Harbor. The Sailors are fresh off a 27-17 victory over El Toro, the defending Division V champion.
Year after year, there’s a lot riding on the backyard battle between Fountain Valley and Edison. Next week’s game, which begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Orange Coast College, is no exception. In the Sunset League, where there’s only one playoff spot after Esperanza and Los Alamitos, the winner will be in the driver’s seat.
