Police Nab Escaped Killer of Mendes

Police captured the fugitive killer of rain forest activist Chico Mendes, three years after he escaped from an Amazon prison where he was serving a 19-year sentence for the slaying. Darci Alves Pereira was arrested as he left his sister’s home in the town of Guaira near the Paraguayan border, police said.
