Pierce College to Offer Classes at High School

Pierce College will offer six of its most popular courses this semester at the new Agoura Center.

The center was established in the fall as an alternative class site for residents of the Conejo Valley.

The courses, which are transferable to both the University of California and the California State University systems, are the same curriculum as those offered on the main campus, officials said.

“The center serves individuals who might find it difficult to commute to the Woodland Hills campus,” said Pierce President E. Bing Inocencio in a statement. “High school juniors and seniors will be able to begin their college studies right at their high school.”

The courses offered this semester are held at Agoura High School after the regular school day.

The courses, which all offer three units of college credit, include:

* From 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, “Government of the United States” (Political Science 1).

* From 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays, “Investments” (Business Finance 2) and “Abnormal Psychology” (Psychology 14).

* From 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays, “Human Biological Evolution” (Anthropology 101) and “Introduction to Western Civilization” (History 1).

* From 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, “Introduction to Philosophy” (Philosophy 1).

Enrollment fees are $13 per unit for California residents. Anyone older than 18 may register, and minors may attend with parental permission.

Registration is now open for the classes, which begin Feb. 4 at the high school, 28545 W. Driver Ave.
