After numerous blowouts Wednesday in the wild-card round of the Southern Section tournament, Saturday’s first round should feature more competition. In Division I, Esperanza (18-4-5) will host University (12-5-3), which defeated Downey, 5-0, in a wild-card game. Esperanza placed second in Sunset League and University placed second in Pacific Coast League. In Division II, Woodbridge (14-9-3), which placed third in Sea View League, will play Pacific Coast League champion Laguna Hills (18-6-1) at a site to be determined. In wild-card games, Woodbridge beat Garden Grove, 8-0, and Laguna Hills defeated Anaheim, 4-0.
