The tall ship Californian, a full-size replica of an 1848 Revenue Service cutter, will make a public sailing cruise Saturday from Channel Islands Harbor to Anacapa Island.
The Californian is operated by the Dana Point-based Nautical Heritage Society as an educational sailing vessel. It will arrive at the dock behind The Whale’s Tail restaurant, 3950 Bluefin Circle, today.
Tickets for the island cruise, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., are $85 and space is limited to 45 passengers.
The tall ship will not stop at the island, but the trip will include a buffet lunch.
On Sunday, the Californian will be open to the public free of charge from 5 to 7 p.m. at the dock.
The open house will include a tour of the cadets’ living quarters, galley and below deck.
The Californian will remain at The Whale’s Tail dock until it departs Ventura County on March 20.
Tickets for the cruise may be purchased by calling The Whale’s Tail at 985-2511.
