Ex-Mayors Recount Adventures in Office
Memories of Thousand Oaks’ past will flow freely at the Plug Nickel restaurant in Westlake Village Saturday, as a host of former mayors recall their days in the city’s top political office.
As a precursor to this month’s Conejo Valley Days, the Conejo Valley Youth Employment Service is sponsoring an evening of entertainment at the restaurant, 717 Lakefield Road.
“Tall Tales of Thousand Oaks, as Told by Former Mayors” will take place between 7 and 10 p.m. Past mayors will share vivid--and possibly exaggerated--recollections of the local political scene.
The list of storytellers includes Ray Garcia, Ventura County Supervisor Frank Schillo, Frances Prince, Lee Laxdal, Ed Jones, Larry Horner, Dwayne Grattan, Alex Fiore and Chuck Cohen.
Admission to the event is $25 in advance and $40 at the door. Proceeds will pay for Conejo Valley Days activities and fund the Youth Employment Service.
