China Bars Efforts to Unionize, Study Says

BRUSSELS — A report on workers’ rights in China says Beijing is systematically crushing all attempts to form trade unions and has detained dozens of activists on spurious charges.

The confederation’s report is timed to coincide with the current session of the U.N. Commission on Human Rights in Geneva, where Denmark is leading a bid for a resolution condemning China’s record.
