Petrie’s First No-Hitter Leads Bolsa Grande Past Santiago

Mary Petrie pitched a no-hitter and drove in a run as Bolsa Grande beat Santiago, 3-0, in a Garden Grove League softball game Thursday.
Petrie stuck out 11 and walked one on her way to her first career no-hitter. Petrie also drove in the winning run for the Matadors (12-6, 3-0) in the fourth inning on a double, which scored Tiffany Houston.
In another Garden Grove League game:
Pacifica 5, Garden Grove 0--Toni Mascarenas (6-1) pitched a five-hit shutout with seven strikeouts for top-ranked Pacifica (15-1-1, 4-0).
Nicole Pickett was two for two with two runs scored and a run batted in for Pacifica. Dara Webb was also two for two with two stolen bases and a run scored for the Mariners.
Rancho Alamitos 7, La Quinta 0--Tricia Hyllested of Rancho Alamitos pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts. She walked three.
In nonleague games:
Los Alamitos 2, Kennedy 1--Angelina Herrera hit a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth and pitcher Mandy Rockwell gave up four hits and no earned runs for the host Griffins (10-5).
St. Margaret’s 3, Southern California Christian 0--St. Margaret’s pitcher Amber Arnold (3-1) struck out 13 batters in seven innings as the Tartans improved to 6-1. Elisa Travis’ sacrifice bunt in the first inning drove in Mariko Obrero with the game-winning run.
Newport Harbor 10, Laguna Beach 0 (5, mercy)--Molli Mullen (4-2) pitched a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts to lead Newport Harbor (7-4).
Cypress 2, Lakewood St. Joseph 0--Junior Lisa Monreal pitched a no-hitter, striking out four and walking two, to win her fourth game this week to improve to 7-4.
Visiting Cypress (8-4) scored two unearned runs in the fourth.
