Ventura Harbor Village and Partners in Progress are sponsoring an Earth Day celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ventura Harbor.
Over 25 exhibitors will be on hand to demonstrate such concepts as composting, recycling and landscaping with native plants. Organizers say the goal of the event is to protect the earth, as well as educate people on solutions to environmental problems.
The Earth Day event is co-sponsored by Partners in Progress, a nonprofit organization that works to beautify Ventura and protect the area’s natural resources.
In addition to a free concert by the Main Street Jazz Band, there will be environment-themed magic shows by Gabriel the Clown at 12:30, 2 and 4 p.m. A composting workshop for children also will take place at 2 p.m.
Julie Tumamait will tell Indian stories, and Mother Earth and Mr. Weather will also be on hand. A petting zoo and face painting are also planned.
