Wouldn’t this be a good year to revert to the practice of calling the rookie of the year the winner of the Jackie Robinson Award?
Baseball decided to officially honor Jackie by naming the rookie-of-the-year award for him in 1987, but somehow we got out of the habit of using it.
We don’t call the best pitchers in the two major leagues the pitchers of the year. We call them the Cy Young Award winners.
