Santa Paula Slips Past Moorpark

Vanessa Gomez pitched a four-hitter and Santa Paula High scored two unearned runs to upset Moorpark, 2-0, in a Frontier League softball game at Santa Paula Bobby Sox Field on Tuesday.
Gomez (9-12) struck out three and walked one to help Santa Paula (9-12, 6-6 in league play) move to within three games of four-time defending champion Moorpark (13-8, 9-3).
The Cardinals got run-scoring singles by Alexis Marshall in the third inning and by Kathy Mata in the sixth.
Thousand Oaks 16, Channel Islands 0--Kim Martin (4-0) pitched a five-inning perfect game with two strikeouts in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.
Kristin Combe had a three-run home run and a two-run triple for the Lancers (19-3, 9-2).
Camarillo 1, Agoura 0--Kathryn Nevard (6-3) pitched a three-hitter and struck out 12 for the Scorpions (15-6, 9-2) in a Marmonte League game at Agoura.
Newbury Park 5, Simi Valley 3--Oli Keohohou had two triples for the Panthers (16-8, 6-5) in a Marmonte League game at Borchard Park. Tracie Hall had four hits for the Pioneers (18-5, 7-4).
Quartz Hill 10, Palmdale 0--Jodie Cox (13-4) pitched five hitless innings and hit a three-run homer for the Rebels (16-5, 7-0) in a Golden League game.
Hoover 5, Pasadena 0--Freshman Cori Herbert (15-6) pitched her seventh no-hitter and struck out 13 for the Tornadoes (16-7, 6-1) in a Pacific League game.
Crescenta Valley 4, Glendale 0--Melinda Moulden (16-4) threw a two-hitter for the Falcons (18-4, 6-1) in a Pacific League game.
Saugus 11, Burbank 3--Nicole Giordano had four hits, scored three runs and stole four bases for the Centurions (19-5, 7-0) in a Foothill League game.
Hart 3, Burroughs 2--Chris Chao, Courtney Downen and Vanessa Raschella had run-scoring singles for Hart (19-7, 5-2) in a Foothill League game at Newhall.
La Reina 1, St. Bonaventure 0--Chrissy Odre scored on a squeeze bunt by Stephanie Deddens in the seventh for the Regents (12-8-1, 5-2) in a Tri-Valley League game.
Paraclete 11, Bishop 1--Erin Flores had two hits and two RBIs for the Spirits (20-3, 7-0) in a High Desert League game.
Rio Mesa 4, Buena 3--Robin Roberts singled home Melissa Loveless in the ninth for the Spartans (16-6, 9-2) in a Channel League game at Rio Mesa.
