Officials are considering including a youth area at the city’s planned community center.
The Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley asked the council in February to consider incorporating an 11,000-square-foot youth center in the design plans for the $5.7-million San Juan Capistrano Community Center. The club also offered to raise $1.5 million to build the youth center.
In a preliminary report presented to the council, city staff found that the plan would not cause traffic and parking difficulties or affect bonds the city sold for the project, according to Al King Jr., community services director.
King said the city wants public hearings on the proposal this month.
