Golditch, Evans Send Chatsworth to Title

The Chatsworth High golf team edged regular-season champion Birmingham, 411-414, to win its second consecutive City 5-A League tournament Tuesday at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.
Todd Golditch shot five-over par 77 and Marco Evans shot 80 to pace the Chancellors. Birmingham, led by Greg Goodfried’s 77 and Scott Bashin’s 78, had to count a 94. Four-time defending City Section champion Granada Hills finished third at 421.
Bashin’s performance was good enough to win the year-long Top Gun tournament.
The most impressive round of the day was turned in by reigning City Section girls’ champion Julie Park, a sophomore from Granada Hills, who shot 78.
All teams advance to the City Section Championships that begin Monday at Harding Golf Course in Griffith Park.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Foothill League finals--Burbank High swept to victory in the Foothill League individual finals at Cal State Northridge.
Burbank’s Rafi Hovanessian won the league singles championship with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Patrick Palmer of Hart and the team of John Swanson and Adrian Facchetti defeated Scott Anderson and Anthony Knight in an all-Burbank doubles final, 6-2, 6-4.
MEN’S GOLF
Division III Championships--Joe Manning of Cal Lutheran shot an 82 as the Kingsmen are in a tie for 21st out of 23 teams after the first round of the finals at Medallion Golf Club in Westerville, Ohio.
David Richardson shot 83, and Rick Brown, Jeremy White and Clint Elsemore each finished at 84.
