Volunteers Sought for Health Panels

The Camarillo Health Care District is looking for volunteers to serve on two new committees.
The district is adding a Teen Advisory Committee and a Bilingual Advisory Committee to explore the health care needs of those populations and discuss what classes or services are needed.
“The teen committee will help us get a feeling or sense of what other teenagers are looking for in the way of classes and how we can target that particular age group,” said Cheryl Camlott, community service coordinator.
The first meeting for the teen committee will be scheduled once school is out for the summer. Three additional two-hour meetings will be held during the year.
“The meetings are the only requirement, but if they’re also available and willing to help make some of the things we’ll be talking about happen, that would be a plus for us,” Camlott said.
The Bilingual Advisory Committee would function much in the same way as the teen committee.
“They would advise us on how to target that particular population, advise us on classes people would be interested in, where we could do outreach and how to best find teachers who could teach those classes,” Camlott said.
The teen and bilingual population are two areas that are not being adequately targeted by the Camarillo Health Care District because of lack of advice from those populations, Camlott said.
“These are two areas right now that we don’t have a large population of people attending classes,” Camlott said. “We don’t have a lot of input in regard to those particular age or ethnic groups.”
Interested individuals should contact Camlott at 388-1952.
