Disabled Veterans

As we pause during this Memorial Day period to honor the memory of those brave Americans who paid the ultimate price for freedom and democracy, let us honor our commitment to those sick and disabled veterans who still bear the deep scars of their military service.
The U.S. government has an ongoing responsibility to provide top-quality health care to those men and women. Yet, the proposed 1998 federal budget for veterans’ health care freezes appropriations for the next five years at a level that would seriously alter and undermine the Department of Veterans Affairs heath-care system. Especially for those who have incurred spinal cord injury/ dysfunction.
We did not risk our lives and health for America only to find that, in our day of need, the health care we earned is threatened.
