The game of the day in today’s Southern Section softball quarterfinals is at Pacifica, where Canyon pitcher Veronica Lopez (16-5) tries to tame top-seeded Pacifica (27-1-1) in Division III. Canyon (20-12-1) will probably face Amanda Freed (17-0), who has allowed one hit in 14 innings in the playoffs and struck out 28.
