Granada Hills Sweeps City Awards

The honors came in Wednesday for the Granada Hills High boys’ volleyball team, winner of its first City Section 4-A championship.

Long-time Coach Tom Harp was honored as City 4-A coach of the year and senior outside hitter Shawn Litchfield was chosen player of the year.

The Highlanders, who capped a 17-0 season with a 15-9, 15-7, 14-16, 15-8 title-clinching victory over Palisades May 16 at Occidental College, had two more players--outside hitter Chris Tran and middle hitter Paul DiSimone--selected to the first team.

Senior outside hitter Aaron Goldstein was a second-team choice and junior Frank Nguyen was chosen third team.

Stephen Wiessner, a senior from Chatsworth, also made first team.

Joe Nargi of Taft and Chris Wilson of Chatsworth were included on the second team.

Omer Samiri of Chatsworth and Jeff Toon of Kennedy were third-team selections.
