Righetti Again Ends Hart’s Season

Hart High surrendered three runs in the sixth inning and fell to Righetti, 3-1, Thursday in a Southern Section Division II softball quarterfinal at Newhall Park.
The Warriors (32-2) used a single, a double and an error to take a 3-0 lead in the sixth.
Hart (23-9) scored in the bottom of the inning when Anna Nordhagen’s groundout brought home Danni Socha from third.
Hart’s Amanda Fortune (21-7) allowed one earned run, struck out five and walked two. The Indians committed two errors.
Warrior pitcher Jocelyn Forest (32-2) struck out 12 and walked one.
Righetti also eliminated Hart last season in a first-round playoff game. Forest also was the winning pitcher last year, striking out 14.
In other quarterfinals:
Saugus 2, La Serna 0--Shannon McRoy singled home Nicole Giordano and Julie Watson in the seventh to give the third-seeded Centurions (25-5) the victory in a Division II game at La Serna.
Giordano (25-5) threw a one-hitter and Watson had three hits. Saugus plays Righetti on Tuesday at a site to be determined.
Santa Maria St. Joseph 6, St. Bonaventure 0--The Seraphs (18-9) surrendered eight hits and committed two errors during a loss to the top-seeded Knights in a Division V game at Santa Maria.
The Seraphs managed only singles by Nicole Newcomb, Jeanna Scarlett and Clare McNamara.
Paraclete 3, Pasadena Poly 0--Alena Valdez scored on a dropped third strike and Vicki McKay and Cassie Burke both scored on a wild pitch and the Spirits (26-3) broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the sixth inning of the Division V game at Jane Reynolds Park in Lancaster.
The Spirits (26-3) advance to play Santa Maria St. Joseph on Tuesday at a site to be determined.
Paraclete’s McKay (21-1) threw a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Cornerstone Christian 1, Lone Pine 0--Julie Siefert scored from first with two out in the sixth when Lone Pine’s center fielder dropped a fly ball by Julia Tamai, enabling the Eagles (19-4) to win the Division VI game at Freedom Park in Camarillo.
Cornerstone Christian advances to face Linfield, a 9-0 winner over Riverside Christian. The Eagles lost to Lone Pine (17-3) in a 1996 semifinal and in the 1995 final.
