Note in Wet Concrete Is Only Clue in Dognapping

Manhattan Beach police are trying to solve a beguiling mystery. They want to find out who kidnapped Nigel, a Yorkshire terrier mix, from inside a home in the 500 block of 1st Street.
Alma and Sam Bennett had gone to dinner Monday night and returned to find one of their dogs barking incessantly.
When they walked into the kitchen, where the floor is being re-tiled, they found a note scrawled in the wet concrete. It said, “Shut the dogs up.” Nigel, one of their three dogs, was missing.
The couple called police, who took a report and questioned neighbors. Nigel has not been found even though the Bennetts have searched the neighborhood and checked the local animal shelters. “I’m devastated,” Alma said Wednesday. “Nigel doesn’t deserve this.”
Anyone with information can call the Manhattan Beach police at (310) 545-5621 Ext. 206.
