Exhibit on Mosquitoes on Display This Week

Since no one showed up at open house at the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District in Santa Fe Springs, officials there have decided to leave up their displays on mosquitoes and other potentially dangerous parasites through the end of the week.

The exhibits, set up Tuesday in honor of Mosquito Control Awareness Week, include magnified mosquito larvae, insect traps and even Africanized “killer” honey bees.

“We had our lab set up and equipment ready and nobody came,” district spokeswoman LuAnn Munns said Tuesday. “We want people to understand the disease surveillance program.”
