* Rosia Davis in a straw number with jutting flowers: “Wearing a hat is like body language. Someone slumped over isn’t very happy. Somone strutting is self-assured. This is a woman and a hat with confidence.”

* Doris Coffman in a rosette-adorned cotton visor: “This is a sweet hat. The rosettes are so practical and the hat complements her pageboy hairdo.”

* His and hers: “My dad always had his straw fedora and felt hats. This guy’s hat reminds me of that era, a bygone era. It’s a great hat. It shows a sense of nostalgia and adventure. He’s not intimidated. And hers is just classically elegant.”

* Ron Chung in Old Glory: “Baseball caps are useful. And all the street kids are wearing red, white and blue Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren stuff. It’s patriotic. But hipsters could be wearing it because it’s cool, because it’s a ‘label’ or because they bought it at a flea market.”

* Irene Senzaki and Harriet Po in matching straw: “Straw is a natural for summer whether it’s an exaggerated visor or an oversized hat. For summer there’s nothing better than a good sun block and a hat.”
