School Offices to Open for Registration

Offices of the Garden Grove Unified School District’s 44 elementary schools will open Monday for registration.

District classes begin Sept. 4 with an expected enrollment of 45,600 students.

All students entering kindergarten in the fall must be 5 years old on or before Dec. 2. There are no exceptions to the minimum age requirement and proof of a child’s age is required. Proof can include a birth certificate, passport, immigration visa or baptism certificate.

State law requires that students be immunized for such diseases as diphtheria, whooping cough and mumps before attending school. Documentation of the immunizations is required.

Immunizations are available through the district’s health clinics at Cook Elementary School or the Lincoln Education Center. No appointments are necessary for free immunizations and skin tests, which are scheduled Aug. 25 and 26 and Aug. 28 through Sept. 5 at several locations. Immunizations will be given from 8 a.m. through 2 p.m.

Information on free immunizations at various district locations is available by calling (714) 663-6503.

Registration is ongoing in the district’s intermediate and high schools.
