Officer’s Funeral Set for Thursday

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Sheriff’s Deputy Shayne York of Valencia, who was killed last week during an armed robbery.
A service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2000 W. Artesia Blvd., Torrance.
Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes.
York, who worked at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Pitchess Detention Center, was shot Thursday at a Buena Park salon where he was visiting his sister.
Two armed men burst inside and ordered everyone to the floor.
York was shot after the robbers took his wallet and discovered he was a deputy, according to authorities.
