PEARL HARBOR DAY SERVICE: Father Anthony Rasch will lead an observation of Pearl Harbor Day with a sermon and patriotic hymns at 10 a.m. Sunday at the St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Catholic Church in Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen St., Chatsworth. Veteran and Chatsworth resident Henry Hessing, a survivor of the Japanese attack on the Pearl Harbor Naval Base on Dec. 7, 1941, will be recognized during the service. A reception will follow. FORMER SOVIET STRONGMAN TO SPEAK: At 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 44648 15th St. W., Lancaster, Gen. Vycheslav Borisov will discuss why he became the first Soviet commander to renounce communism. Nicknamed “General War” by his comrades, Borisov had led the Soviet troops in the war against Afghanistan, which helped launch a $1.5 million reward for his execution by enemies. SURVIVORS’ LIVES: Holocaust survivor Leopold Page and journalist Nick Del Calzo will present “The Triumphant Spirit--An Inspirational Slide Presentation” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Eretz Cultural Center, 6170 Wilbur Ave., Reseda. Page and Del Calzo teamed up to publish “The Triumphant Spirit,” a book about Oskar Schindler’s crusade to save the lives of Jews during the Holocaust--including Page’s.
