Nebraska Ousts USC; Washington Falls to No. 1 Long Beach State

The seventh-ranked USC women’s volleyball team took No. 9 Nebraska to five games, but the Trojans were unable to get past the Cornhuskers, who prevailed, 15-13, 12-15, 14-16, 15-7, 15-12, in the NCAA Pacific Region semifinal Friday night at the Pyramid.
“It wasn’t the prettiest of matches,” said Nebraska Coach Terry Pettit, whose team improved to 27-6.
USC fell to 25-6.
In the other Pacific Region semifinal, No. 1 Long Beach State (33-1) had little trouble defeating No. 13 Washington, 15-4, 15-5, 15-13. The Huskies fell to 20-10.
In the Mountain Region Semifinal at Stanford, No. 5 UC Santa Barbara (31-4) posted a 15-13, 16-14, 15-6 victory over Texas (25-7); and No. 3 Stanford defeated Colorado, 15-7, 15-3, 15-1.
