Cypress Defeats Long Beach in Double Overtime, 108-100

Hamadi Stewart saved Cypress in the final seconds of regulation and overtime as the Chargers defeated Long Beach, 108-100, in double overtime in a nonconference men’s basketball game at Cypress. The Chargers are 8-6.
Cypress trailed, 80-78, but Stewart tipped in a missed shot as time expired to send the game into the first overtime.
With 11 seconds left in overtime, Cypress again trailed by two when Stewart grabbed a rebound and made the follow-up shot to send the game into the second overtime.
From there, A.D. Lamoureux took over, scoring nine of the Chargers’ 18 points in the second overtime. Lamoureux finished with 26 points and 19 rebounds. Frankie Floyd scored 22 points.
Josh Newburn had 18 points for Long Beach (8-7).
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Cypress 73, Grossmont 38--Nancy Love scored 24 points as Cypress (10-4) extended its winning streak to three games. Grossmont is winless in nine games.
Saddleback 67, Long Beach 52--Erin Edmiston, who led the Gauchos with 25 points, had eight rebounds. Taylor Stokes had 10 rebounds and 11 points for Saddleback (5-7).
Hayley Hall had 12 points and six rebounds for the Gauchos.
Kanesia McIntyre led visiting Long Beach City (4-7) with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
