Terry Grants Lancers a Title, 43-42

Angela Terry’s layup with 15 seconds left in overtime lifted Grant High to a 43-42 victory over Hamilton in the championship game of the San Fernando girls’ basketball tournament Wednesday night at San Fernando High.
Tracey Burrell missed at the buzzer for the Yankees (7-2).
Nakeisha Perkins had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Terry added 14 points for the Lancers (8-1).
“We don’t like winning that way--it was pretty ugly,” Grant Coach Steve Brumwell said.
Eagle Rock 50, Marshall 44--Julie Cabigtung scored 12 points for the Eagles (7-2), who outscored Marshall, 22-8, in the fourth quarter of the third-place game at the San Fernando tournament.
Cleveland 59, Bravo Medical 30--Lashanda Smiley scored 32 points for the Cavaliers (7-2) in the fifth-place game at the San Fernando tournament. Smiley averaged 23 points in three tournament games.
San Fernando 52, Poly 48--Maria Castellanos had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers (3-6) in the seventh-place game at the San Fernando tournament.
Quiana Jefferies had 28 points and eight steals for the Parrots (2-7).
Fremont 50, Sylmar 49--Veronica Ramos missed a six-foot jumper with one second left, and the Spartans’ rally from a 22-point deficit fell short in the fifth-place game of the Van Nuys tournament.
Ramos had 14 points and five assists, and Giselle Jimenez added 14 points and 17 rebounds for Sylmar (2-4).
Reseda 59, Van Nuys 38--Ig Herrera had 21 points for the Regents (3-6), who finished seventh in the Van Nuys tournament.
LaTaneka Henderson had 20 points the Wolves (1-5).
North Hollywood 69, McNair (Canada) 24--Claudia Villa scored 16 points and Tashean Thomas added 15 points and eight steals for the Huskies (7-0) in a pool play game at the Burroughs tournament.
Granada Hills 44, Lincoln 26--Jessica Cosby had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Linda Gayton added seven points and 16 rebounds for the Highlanders (4-1) in an East L.A. tournament game.
Simi Valley 61, Camarillo 39--Jamie Sturdivant and Elise Metcalf each scored 12 points for the Pioneers (5-2, 1-0) in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.
Royal 51, Channel Islands 41--Alicia Weber scored 16 points for the Highlanders (8-1, 1-0) in a Marmonte League game at Royal.
Chenne Tuimoloau had 15 points for the Raiders (5-2, 0-1).

Simi Valley 55, Camarillo 40--Branduinn Fullove had 19 points and Rafael Berumen added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Pioneers (5-0) in a Marmonte League opener at Camarillo.
Jeff Stutteville scored 19 points for the Scorpions (3-3).
Channel Islands 83, Royal 59--Dwight Sattiewhite scored 23 points for the Raiders (7-0, 1-0) in a Marmonte League game at Channel Islands.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Taft 1, El Camino Real 0--Nick Sanchez scored in the 46th minute for the Toreadors (1-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.
Royal 2, Camarillo 1--John Hiatt scored a tiebreaking goal in the 78th minute to lift the Highlanders (4-1, 1-0) in a Marmonte League game at Camarillo.

Westlake 1, Thousand Oaks 1--Megan Daly’s goal early in the second half got the Warriors (2-1-1) even in a Marmonte League opener.
Kelley Hess of Thousand Oaks (3-0-2) scored in the 12th minute.
Simi Valley 1, Channel Islands 0--Cindy Mallett scored in the 42nd minute for the Pioneers (3-0, 1-0) in a Marmonte League match at Channel Islands.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Ventura 83, Victor Valley 67--April Kozar scored 20 points for the Pirates (13-1) at Victor Valley.
